Rainy Day 5: 100,000 Miles Check

“But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”  (Isaiah 40:31) NLT

USA Today says that only one car can fit in the category lasting for 100,000 miles, and that is a Honda Accord.  After 100,000 miles, the timing belt will need to be changed, but with regular maintenance, it runs well after 100,000 miles.  Many marriages today have no endurance and will sometimes last two weeks, to sometimes two or three years. I am familiar with a couple that quit after 3 months.  I also know a couple who have just celebrated 60 years of marriage. I guess some may say, that is a long time to be married to one person. I’ve jokingly made comments similar to that myself.  In relationships, there will be struggles, but you can get through them. My husband and I have shared many difficult times, but we got through them. There were times I went home to mama, but she always sent me back to my husband.  She said. “If he is not physically or mentally abusing you, and he has not committed an offensive or cruel act that is too difficult for you to forgive, then you need to go back home.” Therefore, I would go back home, but I would sleep in another room to pout until one of us would apologize.  The point is, we cannot run away from things just because of hurt feelings or if things don’t go the way you want them. James 1:12 says, “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation…”
