Rainy Day 3: Oil Change
“Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;” (James 5:14)
In the Old Testament, oil was used to anoint kings, prophets and priests for service. In the New Testament, James tells sick believers to call Christian elders to anoint them with oil and pray in faith for them, and they will be healed. When the oil in a car breaks down it collects all the dirt generated by your car as it runs. Changing the oil cleans out all of this dirt and the new oil performs as it's supposed to perform. Sometimes, we have to take the opportunity to clean out some of the dirt in our marriages that have accumulated over the years. A good way to begin would be confessing your faults to one another. Another way would be to use some of that anointing oil to clean out the hard ear wax in our ears that keeps us from listening to one another. After a good cleaning and confessing, consecrate your marriage back to God and stand back and watch the wonderful and amazing things God will do.
