Rainy Day 2: Check Engine Light
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
You're driving along in your car and suddenly a yellow light pops on your dash telling you to check or service your engine. But if you are like me, you have no idea what that light means. According to CR (Consumer Reports), the "check engine" light can mean many different things, from a loose gas cap to a seriously misfiring engine. It does not mean you have to pull the car over to the side of the road and call a tow truck. It just means take the time to find out what might be going on inside your car’s engine. The same can apply to a marriage. There can be many things that affect our health in a marriage relationship: stress on the job, medical issues, finances, problems with the children, and many more. If something is bothering one person or the other, find out what could be causing the problem in the marriage by communicating with one another. Your spouse won’t know that your head is hurting unless you say so. Remove any worrisome thoughts from your mid and petition your request to God. If it is necessary for you to follow-up with a doctor’s appointment or the appropriate person that could help in the situation, it might be wise to do so. God works through doctors also.
